Mr. Dunlap was born in Gainesville, Florida. He graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree (Business Administration). While at UNC, Mr. Dunlap was a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society.
Mr. Dunlap then attended the University of Florida College of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctorate degree. While at the University of Florida College of Law, he was a member of the University of Florida Law Review, 1983-1984 and authored "Interstate Banking Developments in Florida: Pushing Through Legal Barriers and Toward a Level Playing Field," 9 Nova Law Journal 1, 1984.
Mr. Dunlap was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1985, and he is a Florida Bar Board Certified Real Estate Lawyer. Mr. Dunlap is a member of the Sarasota County Bar Association. He is a past Director of the Sarasota County Bar Association and a past Director of the Home Builders' Association of Sarasota County. Mr. Dunlap is also a past Director of Children First and a past Director of Sara Bay Country Club.
Mr. Dunlap and his wife Melissa reside in the City of Sarasota. Melissa is active as a board member of The Florida Center for Early Childhood and is a past board member of Saint Stephen's Episcopal School. Scott and Melissa have two adult sons, Davis and Harris.
