Mr. Featherstone is originally from Sarasota, Florida.  He graduated from Pine View School in 1997, with honors, and then attended the University of Florida graduating in 2001 with his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, Finance.

Mr. Featherstone then attended Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, California, completing his last semester of law school at Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, Florida, as a visiting student.  He obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree from Southwestern in 2005, and was admitted to the Florida Bar that same year.

Mr. Featherstone is a locally born, experienced real estate and business law attorney with a diversified practice focused on residential and commercial real estate transactions, including title analysis and title curing, issuance of title insurance and representation of individual and business entity clients in all aspects of buying, selling, developing, and leasing residential and commercial property.  Mr. Featherstone’s practice also includes the representation of clients in the purchase and sale of all types of businesses.  His services include contract negotiation and drafting, resolving disputes pre-suit, and conducting real estate and business closings.  He is also approved counsel for various national and community banks, and is involved in the legal analysis, documentation and closing of secured and unsecured loan transactions.

Mr. Featherstone has previously served as a Director of the Sarasota-Bradenton Attorney’s Real Estate Council and as a Director of the Gulf Coast Mortgage Bankers Association, also serving as its Membership Chair.  He is a member of the Sarasota County Bar Association, the Realtor Association of Sarasota and Manatee, the Venice Area Board of Realtors, the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, the Manatee Chamber of Commerce, and the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance.

In 2019, Mr. Featherstone obtained the prestigious AV Preeminent® Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer-rating recognition. This is the gold standard in attorney ratings, recognizing lawyers for their strong legal ability and high ethical standards for more than a century. This rating signifies that a large number of Mr. Featherstone’s peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence for his legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.  An elite group of only about 10% of all attorneys nationwide holds an AV Preeminent Rating, a designation trusted worldwide by clients and referrers of legal services.

This honor is given to fewer than 1.2% of active Florida Bar members.  In years 2020-2023, Mr. Featherstone was named to SRQ Magazine's list of Elite Top Attorneys in the area of Real Estate Law.  Finally, since 2022, Mr. Featherstone has been named to the prestigious U.S. News - Best Lawyers® list of The Best Lawyers in America® in the area of Real Estate Law.  With this distinction, he now ranks among the top 5% of attorneys nationwide, as determined purely by his peers. 

Mr. Featherstone resides in Sarasota, Florida with his wife, fellow Real Estate Attorney, Jessica Featherstone, their son Landon, daughter Juliette, and their Labrador Retriever, Bishop.
